COSTA RICA
NATIVE ANIMALS
Animal Diversity

There are many animals in Costa Rica, from sloths to pumas to turtles, there is no end to how many species are here. Hundreds of these animals are also endemic to Costa Rica. The tropical animals in Costa Rica have many adaptations that help them survive in the wild. Camouflage is a huge one that can be seen through sloths. Sloths' fur is brown so they can blend in with the tree they are in. Onto a whole other type of adapatation, mimicry. There is a spider that looks like an ant so predators don't eat it. Another animal, a caterpillar, when frightened turns over and looks like a poisonous snake. These are just a few of the many extremely useful adaptations that tropical animals in Costa Rica have.
